Jio Glass; Will It Change The Future?

Reliance Industries Limited conducted its 43rd Annual General Meeting recently and as always had something very special for us the public. In the presentation, Kiran Thomas, president of RIL introduced us to a very unique product that might change the ways of communication after the times of COVID-19. The name of this product is Jio Glass. Jio Glass is 75 grams, cutting-edge technology that enables us to attend video conferences in 3D virtual rooms. This glass is designed especially for teachers and students so that the interaction between them could be the best of the best. Jio Glass uses the latest and the most advanced form of virtual reality and it interacts via the Jio Mixed Reality services in real-time.

In the demo show, Kiran Thomas said, “Hello Jio, please call Aakash and Isha.” The Jio Glass automatically made a call to Aakash Ambani and Isha Ambani. Aakash was shown in 3D avatar whereas Isha was in 2D avatar through conventional video call interface. During the complete session, the demo shows how powerful as well as convenient is the Jio Glass. Kiran Thomas also said that “Jio Glass is at the cutting edge of technology that provides best-in-class Mixed Reality services to give users a truly meaningful immersive experience.” With this Jio Glass, we can also do things like 3Dassesments by holographic imaging technology.

The Jio Glass needs to be connected to a smartphone with a cable to power it. The company claims that it will come with 25 in-built apps that will allow you to have video conferences and more. As the Glass is brand new to the market we don’t know much about the specifications of the product or which are the heights it can reach. All we know that this product will take full advantage of 5G services which currently Jio has been working on. One more exciting thing to know that Reliance has made a partnership with Google for Jio products. The partnership may result in a very modern and high-tech collection coming from Jio in the upcoming times.

After seeing the complete session we can come to only one result, yes this technology can literally change the future. This type of virtual reality world has been in use for quite a time now but the specifications of Jio Glass and the collaboration of Reliance and Google will definitely give us a product that can change the future for us as well as the future generation. The release date or the price range is still a mystery but we are hoping to hear from the Reliance Industries Limited very soon and maybe the product will get in the market before the end of the epidemic. If it gets released within 2020 then the gadget will definitely change the future of communication.
